Shaheen Shah Afridi has clarified the reasoning behind his absence from Pakistan’s third Test against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
In a conversation with a foreign sports channel, Shaheen acknowledged the importance of taking rest and highlighted that the management prioritized “workload management.” This decision stemmed from the substantial number of overs he bowled during the initial two Tests in Perth and Melbourne.
“I played two games, and a lot of overs to be honest. They’re just managing my workload, the medical team and team management decided to take a rest for this (Test),” Shaheen said.

Expressing his disappointment regarding missed chances during the Australian tour, Shaheen emphasized the significance of dropped catches.
“I believe I could have taken more wickets, but catches are crucial in winning matches. Unfortunately, we missed several opportunities on the field throughout this tour. Overall, it’s been a good tour, and the last game we played was quite remarkable. As a bowling unit and as a team, we put in our best efforts. The result wasn’t within our control, but we gave it our all,” he further elaborated.
