Former cricketer Abdul Razzaq has sparked controversy with his recent comments on Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai during a media interaction attended by former Pakistani cricketers.
The session predominantly centered on the intense criticism voiced by former players regarding the disappointing performance of the Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team in the 2023 ICC World Cup.
When queried about the team’s performance in the major tournament, Razzaq made a controversial statement about Aishwarya. Interestingly, Shahid Afridi, rather than condemning or interrupting Razzaq’s comments, was seen laughing and applauding in response.
“If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai a good and pious kid would be born, it would never happen,” Razzaq said.
Discussing concerns regarding the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Razzaq utilized a startling analogy to criticize their approach. He highlighted the positive influence of Younis Khan’s captaincy on his motivation to improve performance. However, he underscored a perceived lack of commitment from the PCB in fostering and refining players’ skills.
