Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has dismissed any involvement in discussions or endeavors to push for the appointment of Shaheen Shah Afridi as the T20 captain.
His remarks came in response to Babar Azam’s abrupt resignation from the captaincy in all formats, which was followed by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) announcements of Shaheen as the T20 captain and Shan Masood as the Test captain.
Speaking on a local news channel, Afridi addressed the circulating speculations surrounding his alleged attempts to influence the captaincy decisions.
“I have always supported Mohammad Rizwan. I swear, I never advocated for making Shaheen the captain, nor did I engage in any lobbying. I am not involved in such matters. It’s not my style, and I don’t appreciate it,” Afridi stated.
