Shahid Afridi has announced his Pakistan squad for the World Cup

Former Pakistan captain, Shahid Afridi, has unveiled his chosen Pakistan squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, scheduled to be held in India during October and November.

During an interview with a local media channel, Afridi highlighted the inclusion of several players who had been absent from the Pakistan squad for an extended period. Notably, he mentioned all-rounder Imad Wasim, along with fast bowlers Hassan Ali and Arshad Iqbal.

Afridi commended Imad Wasim for his exceptional all-around performance and stressed the importance of having a bowler of his caliber, especially when fast bowlers face challenges. He emphasized the versatility of Imad, particularly his effectiveness with the new ball.

“We will encounter different types of pitches, either seaming or very flat tracks. Having Imad Wasim as an option is crucial. He can be a dangerous bowler with the new ball, especially when fast bowlers are struggling,” Afridi stated.

Afridi also expressed confidence in Imad’s batting abilities and praised his capacity to handle pressure, citing his mental strength, experience, and contributions in pressure situations.
